Snore

It is a common condition that can affect anyone, but it is more common in men and people who are overweight. Snoring has a tendency to worsen with age.

Snoring is often distressing for your bed partner. Not only are you disrupting the sleep patterns of those close to you, you’re also disrupting your own sleep quality. Needs medical help to get a good night’s sleep.

From an anatomical perspective, the throat and neck muscles that keep the airway open relax during sleep, but sometimes they relax so much that the upper airway is partially closed. This means that the human body does not receive enough oxygen to perform its important functions. The brain then sends a signal to the snorer to wake up in order to get the oxygen the body needs.

Causes of snoring;

Snoring can be caused by many factors, including the anatomy of the mouth and sinuses, alcohol consumption, allergies, colds, and weight.

The narrower your airway, the stronger the airflow. This increases tissue vibration, causing louder snoring.

Anatomy: A low, thick and loose soft palate can narrow your airway. It is common for overweight people to have enough fatty tissue to narrow their airways.
Alcohol consumption: Snoring can also occur as a result of consuming too much alcohol before going to bed.
Nasal problems: Chronic nasal congestion, deviated septum, and nasal polyps can contribute to snoring.

Sleeping position: When sleeping on your back, the airway narrows due to the gravitational effect of the throat, causing loud snoring.

If you have any of the above symptoms, see your Ear-Nose-Throat doctor. These may indicate that your snoring is related to obstructive sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is a more serious condition than simple snoring, characterized by loud snoring followed by cessation of breathing function.
Obstructive sleep apnea can also occur in children. Nose and throat problems, large tonsils, and obesity can often narrow a child’s airway, which can lead to your child developing “obstructive sleep apnea.”
