Semih Sütay completed his research assistantship at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ear, Nose and Throat, between 1984 and 1988, and became an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.
In 1990, he started working as a Specialist in Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ear, Nose and Throat. He received the title of lecturer in 1992, Assistant Professor in 1994, and Associate Professor in 1997. He became a professor in 2003. He retired from the university in 2023 and continues to work as a freelance physician.
In 2001, he made observations on Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and Sleep disorders in Chicago, USA for approximately 2 months. He contributed to the education of thousands of medical students. He gave around 20 "Cadaver Applied Endoscopic Sinus Surgery" and "Rhinoplasty" courses to hundreds of ENT specialists and Research Assistants. He gave lectures as an invited speaker at hundreds of national and international scientific meetings. He has more than a hundred scientific studies published in national and international journals. He has served as a referee in many national and international journals.
